IPC-A-610E IPC Certification

IPC-A-610E - Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (CIS)

IPC-A-610E – Certified IPC Specialist – Acceptability Of Electronic Assemblies The IPC-A-610E is the most widely used specification published by the IPC for the electronics manufacturing industry.

IPC-A-610-E - Certified IPC Specialist  (CIS) Training

This course is designed to help electronic manufacturers achieve the highest quality, highest productivity, and most cost-effective production by ensuring their workers can correctly apply the acceptability criteria of IPC-A-610E.

The education and training goal of this program is to improve individual “discrimination” skills, i.e., to improve accuracy of discrimination between an “acceptable” or “non-conforming” electronic assembly per the IPC-A-610E series. This program will also teach individuals the reasons for the accept/reject criteria to enhance their motivation and ability to consistently and correctly apply the discrimination criteria.

Throughout this three-day course, employees will be trained to correctly apply the accept/non-conforming criteria for the applicable class of production: (Class 1) Consumer Products; (Class 2) General Industrial; (Class 3) High Reliability. Certification requires a 70% or better grade.

Course Length: 3 days. Certifications are valid for 24 months

IPC-A-610E Handbook - Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies

The IPC-A-610E, “Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies” is the most widely used specification published by the IPC for the electronics manufacturing industry.

This publication is a visual document that provides comprehensive accept/reject criteria for handling of electronic assemblies, mechanical assemblies, component installation, location, orientation, soldering, and cleanliness of assemblies, marking of assemblies, coatings, laminate conditions, discrete wiring assembly and surface mount assemblies.

Worker Proficiency students will be evaluated on their mastery of the IPC-A-610E material through end-of-course tests that have both open-book and closed-book components. Students must receive an average of at least 70% on both tests.

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, participants will receive an IPC certification that is valid for 24 months. Everyone who successfully completes the worker proficiency certification will receive a copy of the IPC-A-610E Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.

Topics Include:

  • Terms and Definitions
  • Handling Electronic Assemblies
  • Mechanical Assemblies
  • Component Installation Location/Orientation
  • Soldering
  • Cleanliness
  • Marking and Coatings
  • Laminate Conditions
  • Discrete Wiring Assembly
  • Surface Mount Assemblies
